Fast charging

Fast charging

« Back to Glossary Index

Fast charging generally uses higher charging power than slow charging, using dedicated charging infrastructure that can deliver several kilowatts or even megawatts of power.
This allows more energy to be transferred to the vehicle battery in a shorter time, reducing the waiting time for charging.
Fast charging stations for electric vehicles can be found at gas stations, rest areas along motorways, or strategic points in cities. They are usually equipped with high-powered charging connectors, such as the CCS Combo (Combined Charging System) or CHAdeMO, which enable fast charging compatible vehicles.
