A Charge Point Operator (CPO) is an organisation or company responsible for installing, managing, operating and maintaining a network of charging points for electric vehicles. A CPO provides a publicly accessible charging infrastructure, enabling owners of electric vehicles to charge their cars or other electric vehicles at specially designated points.
The responsibilities of a CPO may include the planning and installation of charging facilities, the management of financial transactions for charging, the maintenance and technical support of charging devices, as well as the management of access and the provision of additional services, such as integration with mobile apps for booking fixed or mobile charging points, and the provision of real-time information on the status of charging point use.
