kW; kWh; A; cycles: the battery parameters

« Back to Glossary Index

Battery parameters are measurements that indicate the capacity, state of charge and performance of a battery. The most commonly used parameters to measure these are kilowatts (kW), kilowatt-hours (kWh), amperes (A) and the number of cycles. The kW is a unit of power measurement and shows the rate at which energy is produced or consumed over time. kWh is a unit of energy and shows the total amount of energy stored in a battery or consumed over time. A is a unit of electrical current and measures the speed at which electricity flows through an electrical circuit. Finally, the number of cycles is the number of times the battery has performed a complete charge and discharge cycle. Together, these parameters provide valuable information on battery performance and can be used to make adjustments to maximize efficiency.
