A low-emission vehicle (LEV), or reduced environmental impact vehicle, is a type of vehicle designed to reduce emissions of air pollutants. The main objective of a low-emission vehicle is to minimise the negative impact on the environment through the adoption of advanced technologies and environmentally friendly practices.
Low-emission vehicles often focus on reducing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and air pollutants such as nitrogen oxide (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and fine particles. This can be achieved using a variety of alternative technologies and fuels, such as electric, hybrid, fuel cell, compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles.
Low-emission vehicles contribute to reducing air pollution and the overall environmental impact, helping to mitigate climate change and improve air quality.
