DWPT

« Back to Glossary Index

DWPT (Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer) is a new technology that allows electric vehicles in motion to be recharged by wirelessly transferring electricity from a power source directly to the vehicle while it is moving. It is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional charging systems, which require a physical connection between the vehicle and the charging station.
DWPT technology is based on the principle of magnetic induction, in which a variable magnetic field is generated by a transmission coil placed on the floor or embedded in the road. The electric vehicle has a receiver coil located on the floor or underneath. It collects energy from the magnetic field and converts it into electrical energy to power the vehicle’s batteries.
The DWPT enables continuous charging while driving, allowing electric vehicles to extend their range without making prolonged stops for charging. In addition, it can be integrated into various road infrastructures such as motorways, urban roads or service stations, providing a convenient and ubiquitous charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
